Chief Executive Officer

We are looking for an experienced and energetic CEO to lead TalentEd, an education charity which partners qualified teachers with small groups of highly able and disadvantaged young people to improve academic attainment and future options.

TalentEd’s expert tutors have worked with over 8,000 pupils in seven counties since 2012. Over the last year we have secured significant grants and investment, expanding from a team of four to seven, and we have clear, ambitious plans to grow. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven leader.

Key Responsibilities

The CEO is responsible for all strategic and operational activities of the organisation. You will focus on growing the organisation by helping more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in a financially sustainable way, whilst maintaining the high quality of our programmes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Development and delivery of the business plan (reach, impact, tutors, finances)
• Human resources and line management
• Managing key external relationships
• Managing budgets
• Operational support for new schools, impact and fundraising
• Risk management
• Reporting to the Board

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated excellent communication skills and proficiency in managing a team and a budget, preferably whilst scaling up operations. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an entrepreneurial streak, enabling them to increase the efficiency of processes and impact of the delivery model.

It is important that candidates share TalentEd’s desire to give every young person the support, skills and aspirations to realise their potential.


• Proven track record of leadership, with a history of leading and motivating highly-effective teams
• Exceptional relationship management and presentation skills
• Experience in the Education Sector
• Understanding and experience of charity governance, reporting and accounting

Terms and Conditions

• Working hours: Full-time
• Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience
• Holidays: 25 days per year, plus eight public holidays
• Flexible working: we will consider requests for flexible hours, an element of working from home and compressed hours
