The Council for Learning outside the Classroom (CLOtC) is a charity created, governed and inspired by thousands of individuals, organisations and schools committed to helping children flourish through learning in all spaces and places. Now in its 10th year, CLOtC exists to help schools and teachers deliver the curriculum outside the classroom creatively and safely across a range of exciting learning places and spaces including: school grounds; visits to local areas; museums; farms; places of worship; adventure activities; residential experiences and visits abroad. We know that these learning experiences strengthen children’s physical and emotional wellbeing and increase confidence and resilience, but we also know that many children are missing out on these life changing experiences.
We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer to lead CLOtC through its exciting new strategy and big ambitions for change that we know can only be achieved by working in collaboration and through closer partnerships.
Building on our solid reputation, our new Chief Executive Officer will act as an ambassador for CLOtC and our networks, growing impactful relationships with partners, members, policy makers, funders and the media to increase understanding of the benefits of learning outside the classroom and the support needed in schools.
Our Chief Executive Officer will ensure our two national accreditations: LOtC Quality Badge and LOtC Mark for Schools are supported to deliver the best possible impact. They will also oversee our income targets, ensure strong financial management and inspire and support our staff team to develop their best potential.
We are looking for a values-driven, commercial leader with a track record of building influential relationships that increase our profile and charitable impact. Sympathetic to the needs of multiple stakeholders, you will have exceptional communication and influencing skills and be able to demonstrate excellent leadership that inspires both hearts and minds. You will bring a solid understanding of generating income streams and financial management and most importantly will be driven to strengthening and increasing the support offered to schools to help young people flourish.
CLOtC has a small team and a remote model of working to deliver its national remit. All posts are based from home and the post holder will be required to travel nationally on a regular basis.
This is a part-time role and hours will be negotiable up-to a maximum of 0.8 full time equivalent / 30 hours per week.
This is a fixed term role until November 2020 with potential for a permanent role as the charity goes through a period of change.
