Reports to: Head of Development
Location: The post-holder will be based at Arvon’s National Office, Free Word, Farringdon, London EC1R 3GA
Salary: Salary: £16,800 p.a. (equivalent to £21,000 for full-time role)
Hours: 30 hours per week (part-time, 4 days per week)

We are looking for a confident and self-motivated Development and Digital Assistant to join Arvon’s team. In this new role you will report to the Head of Development and work closely with colleagues in the Communications and Digital team. The Development and Digital Assistant will act as the first point of contact for those wishing to support Arvon, manage the individual membership scheme and assist in the implementation of Arvon’s digital strategy.

Purpose of the role: To contribute to the development of Arvon’s income streams from individual giving, to offer general administrative support to the Development team, and to assist in the implementation of Arvon’s digital strategy.


Principal Duties:

Development (2.5 days):
• Day-to-day management of relationships with Arvon Friends including Friends membership administration and ensuring that Friends are kept informed and updated on Arvon’s activities
• Drafting and sending quarterly Supporters e-newsletter
• Contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to grow income from individual donors.
• Planning and implementation of individual giving campaigns
• Maintaining and updating the fundraising database,with particular focus on individual donors,including updating contact details and recording communications with donors
• Providing regular reports and analysis of individual donor data
• Liaising with the Finance Officer to provide monthly Friends income figures and to co-ordinate quarterly Gift Aid claims
• Assisting Communications in the creation of materials for website and print, particularly on alumni, individual giving and fundraising campaigns
• Arranging cultivation events, including managing invitation lists and practical arrangements
• Liaising with grant recipients ensuring the completion of evaluation forms
• Recording achievements of Arvon alumni and creating alumni case studies for funding applications
• Liaising with Centres staff ensuring they are kept updated on fundraising campaigns and that each Centre has relevant supporter print and materials
• Providing general support to the Development team

Digital(1.5 days):
• Drafting and sending fortnightly Tips and Exercises email
• Implementation of the priority booking campaign and biannual 5-day Writing Challenge
• Assisting in the marketing of Arvon’s membership offer, including social media, advertising and email marketing
• Assisting the Communications and Digital Coordinator in the sourcing and administration of tips and exercises content and other website content
• Providing administrative support for the maintenance and improvement of Arvon’s CRM database(Salesforce)
• Providing administrative support to Arvon 1-1;supporting the administration of Arvon’s evaluation
• Assisting in all aspects of the implementation of Arvon’s digital strategy

General:
• Visit Arvon’s writing centres on Arvon business when required
• Ensure that Arvon’s policies are observed in every area of the work
• Any other reasonable duties of a similar level in support of Arvon’s Development and Digital activities
• Representing Arvon at events, conferences and meetings


Person specification:

• Able to demonstrate experience of successful fundraising
• Strong digital skills
• An understanding of and affinity with Arvon’s values
• Passion for working in the arts and/or education
• An interest in creative writing
• Excellent communicator with ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors and funders
• Diplomatic and confident at dealing with enquiries from Friends and prospect supporters
• Strong organisational skills with close attention to detail
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Experience of working with databases
• Willing and able to work proactively within a small team

Additional terms and conditions

Holiday: 20 days per annum, plus pro-rata entitlement to Bank Holidays
Pension: 5% employer contribution, minimum 3% employee contribution
Probation period:13weeks
