Job Description: Head of HR (Part Time: 4 days/week)

Job Summary:

Reporting to the CSO, the Head of HR will have overall responsibility for leading and managing the HR function, which includes Health & Safety. This is a broad generalist HR role covering every aspect of the employee cycle to include; recruitment; performance management; employee relations, reward and talent development.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the HR team which currently consists of two direct reports (Recruiting, Training and Development Manager and HR Coordinator), mentoring them and providing coaching to help reach their potential
• Work in collaboration with the Marketing Director and other senior team members to instil the company values and behaviours through coordinating Quarterly Values day, the Rewards and Recognition programme and the annual Performance Review
• Work with the technology team to help identify and implement a Digital HR system. Prior experience in this area is an advantage
• Work closely with operational teams to define resourcing needs and provide the business with effective recruitment and selection processes to deliver high quality candidates.
• Implement and monitor effectiveness of training programmes
• Develop and implement a robust retention strategy in line with business requirements
• Lead the HR function to provide a comprehensive and effective HR business partnering service to line management
• Drive a variety of initiatives within succession planning, talent management and performance review processes
• Support Line Management in all ER issues, dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, TUPE and redundancy
• Develop, implement and maintain human resources policies across the organisation ensuring compliance with legislation
• Develop and maintain an employee engagement strategy which supports the delivery of our business objective
• Provide timely health and safety advice, guidance, training, management reporting and practical management solutions to all employees and contractors
• Review, develop and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in keeping with best practice and make recommendations on their implementation and application
• Review and investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events
• Identify continuous improvement initiatives
• Employees may be assigned other duties, in addition to, or in lieu of those described above, per the needs of the Company

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge: (job related / professional)
5-year checkable work history or continuous education history
Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
Relevant professional qualification (CIPD)
NEBOSH/IOSH Diploma Qualification or equivalent

Skills: (technical / managerial)

-Held previous position of seniority, able to establish credibility and build department accountability
-Evidence of having a passion for working with people and working beyond the confines of the job description
-Able to problem solve and demonstrate operational and strategic skills
-Experience of acting as a role model is essential and leading teams
-Comfortable in developing team members and empowering staff
-Demonstrates commercial acumen – partners with the business to deliver commercially focused people strategies and has a good overall understanding of company finances and uses this to develop policies
-Solid employment law knowledge and proven experience of applying updated legislation to a variety of HR situations
-Managed redundancy situations and experienced in coaching managers through this and leading where necessary
-Familiarity of managing TUPE situations and able to counsel senior management on appropriate practice
-Outstanding communication skills
-Proven organisation skills and ability to prioritise

The Package

For a 4 day week:

£55,000 to £60,000
26.5 days holidays (inclusive of bank holidays)
